With a WEBTOON, original novel, print books, live-action series, and anime in the mix, starting The Remarried Empress can look a little more complicated than court etiquette. It really is not. Your best first format depends on whether you want a quick visual read, the original text, a shelf-worthy edition, or a screen adaptation.
This guide is completely spoiler-free. It only sorts the official formats and helps you choose a starting point.
Table of Contents
The short answer: start with the WEBTOON
For most new readers, the official WEBTOON is the easiest way in. Its visual episodes introduce Navier, Sovieshu, Rashta, and Heinrey clearly, and you can read at your own pace without learning a separate system first.
Use our official episode guide to find the legitimate release and locate your place if you are returning after a break. You can also go directly to The Remarried Empress on WEBTOON.
Pick the format that matches your mood
WEBTOON: the visual route
This is the natural choice if you enjoy reading on your phone, moving through short episodes, and seeing Sumpul’s artwork bring HereLee’s adaptation to life. You do not need any background knowledge before Episode 1.
Novel: the original story
Alphatart’s web novel is the source material behind the comic adaptation. Its official Korean edition is available through Naver Series. If you do not read Korean, steer clear of unauthorized translations and check our English novel reading guide for the official options.
Print books: for reading and collecting
The print editions bring the WEBTOON to physical pages. They make a good starting point if you prefer paper, larger artwork, and a collection you can keep. Our English and Spanish print guide tracks the verified Ize Press and Planeta Cómic editions.
Live action: for K-drama viewers
The Disney+ series is its own adaptation, not a substitute for the WEBTOON or novel. It is scheduled to premiere on November 4, 2026, with ten episodes and a confirmed weekly rollout. Save our K-drama release calendar, then visit the cast and trailer guide.
Anime: for viewers looking toward 2027
Crunchyroll has announced an anime adaptation for 2027. Like the live action, it will tell the story in its own medium and pace. Our anime guide covers the studio, Japanese cast, trailer, and the details still waiting for confirmation.
Is there a required order?
No. Start with the format that makes you curious, then compare adaptations later. These three routes are especially easy to follow:
- Visual route: WEBTOON, character guides, then the screen adaptations.
- Reading route: WEBTOON, official novel, then print books.
- Premiere route: spoiler-free character guide, live action, then WEBTOON from the beginning.
The one thing worth avoiding is mixing numbering systems. WEBTOON episodes, novel chapters, and print volumes do not advance in matching units.
What to read before Episode 1
If you want the names straight without learning the twists, open our character guide and court politics guide. One introduces the core cast; the other explains why rank, reputation, and information matter so much in this world.
